La revista Grial apareció por vez primera en 1951, pero una suspensión administrativa la obligó a un silencio de más de diez años. Reapareció en 1963 y desde entonces no ha dejado de publicarse. El espíritu universal que le imprimieron sus fundadores, servir de cauce responsable de la actividad cultural gallega y hacer de puente para la incorporación de la cultura universal a Galicia, sigue siendo el mismo que preside la elaboración de la revista en la actualidad. Después de todo, esta publicación lleva el nombre de una hermosa leyenda que es patrimonio cultural de toda Europa, pero que está también presente en la historia y el arte gallegos. En Grial aparecen trabajos que obedecen al doble propósito de informar sobre la realidad de Galicia al mismo tiempo que se informa y reflexiona sobre los más diversos aspectos de la cultura universal.
Grial appeared for the first time in 1951, however an administrative ban forced it into a silence of more than ten years. It reappeared in 1963 and since then has been published without a break. The universal spirit with which its founders imbued it —to serve as a basis for Galician cultural events and to act as a bridge to incorporate universal culture within Galicia— continues to be the spirit which directs the magazine\'s production now. After all, this magazine bears the name of a beautiful legend which is the cultural heritage of the whole of Europe, but which is also present in Galician history and art. Thus, in Grial, works appear which satisfy the twofold aim of informing on the realities of Galicia, and at the same time of acquainting us with and reflecting upon the most diverse aspects of universal culture.
